Θανάσιμος ακαμψία: Όταν τα ζώα προσποιούνται ότι πέθαναν!

Οι στρατηγικές που αναπτύσσουν τα ζώα για να επιβιώσουν, πολλές φορές εντυπωσιάζουν. Μια τέτοια περίπτωση είναι η θανάσιμος ακαμψία, λεγόμενη και ψευδοθάνατος (αγγλικά: tonic immobility ή apparent death).

Πρόκειται για μια αμυντική στρατηγική που χρησιμοποιούν κάποια ζώα, όταν νιώθουν ότι δεν μπορούν να διαφύγουν. Μπαίνουν σε κατάσταση ακινησίας, ώστε να πιστέψουν οι θηρευτές τους  ότι είναι νεκρά, για να αποφύγουν την επίθεση.
